Bucks County Transport (BCT) was proud to participate in the Borough of Doylestown’s annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26th, joining one of the oldest Memorial Day parades in the United States as the community came together to honor American veterans and fallen heroes.
BCT contributed two buses to the parade, driven by Jim Donnelly and John Sikora, who skillfully navigated the traditional parade route that began at Central Bucks High School West on West Court Street and concluded at Doylestown Cemetery. The parade started promptly at 10:00 AM, following the morning’s flag-raising ceremony at War Memorial Field.
Beyond our parade participation, BCT provided an essential service by transporting veterans to the Memorial Service at Doylestown Cemetery. This meaningful contribution ensured that veterans who might otherwise face transportation challenges could attend the 30-minute ceremony where the United Veterans of Doylestown laid wreaths in remembrance of fallen heroes.
“Supporting our veterans and ensuring they can participate in community events like Memorial Day services is an honor for our organization,” said Charlie Marcakis, DART Systems Manager. “Transportation should never be a barrier to honoring those who have served our country.”
The parade route took participants east on West Court Street, east on West State Street, north on Main Street, and east on East Court Street before ending at the cemetery. Community members lined the streets throughout the route, demonstrating the continued importance of this cherished tradition that unites Doylestown in remembrance and gratitude.
BCT’s dual role in both the parade and veteran transportation services exemplifies our commitment to serving the community while honoring those who have preserved our nation’s freedoms.
